MARBEFES Coastal Watch Engages Communities in Marine Biodiversity Conservation
During May and June 2026, the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN), within the framework of the MARBEFES project, carried out a series of Coastal Watch activities in the Gdańsk Bay region. These initiatives created opportunities for scientists, environmental authorities, NGOs, artists, students and local communities to exchange knowledge, raise awareness of marine biodiversity, and strengthen cooperation around coastal conservation. The programme featured a BioBlitz-inspired event, field workshops on coastal biodiversity, and a training session for environmental practitioners, highlighting practical applications of MARBEFES research in supporting informed and sustainable coastal ecosystem management.
